Narrow Worm-eel

Despite its confusing name, the narrow worm-eel is not a worm! Instead, it is an eel, which is a type of fish!

As both its head and rear end are hard, strong and pointy, the narrow worm-eel can use both its head and tail like spades to burrow quickly into soft sediments or hide in small crevices on the shore. You may catch it swimming around the intertidal zone in a wavy S-shaped manner, but please don’t mistake it for a sea snake, which is a reptile and not a fish!

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please do not bring back animals from the wild! Read more about the dos and don'ts in the intertidal zone.
