Milkspotted Pufferfish
The milkspotted pufferfish bears a pattern of white polka-dotted patches on its back, which resemble droplets of milk that dripped on its body!
Like all pufferfishes, the milkspotted pufferfish is poisonous. If certain parts of its body are consumed without proper preparation, this can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, numbness, paralysis or even death! Despite the danger, pufferfishes are still eaten as a delicacy in Japan. In Singapore, pufferfish is known as ikan buntal, and pufferfish dishes are sometimes eaten by the Malay and Orang Laut community!
