Gold-spotted Mudskipper

The gold-spotted mudskipper is named for its beautiful golden spots! Its dorsal fin is also brightly coloured for communication purposes. Male gold-spotted mudskippers flash their dorsal fin to attract females and to threaten other males.

Interestingly, gold-spotted mudskippers are sometimes seen in groups numbering from a handful to more than 20 individuals! These schools move together on the shore to find food and escape predators. These amazing fish can breathe outside of water by keeping their gills and skin moist!
