Thorny Sea Cucumber

The thorny sea cucumber has red, thorn-like “spikes” on its upperside, but there is no need to be afraid of it! These projections are actually soft and will not hurt you!

Although thorny sea cucumbers do not do well in captivity, sadly, they are still sometimes collected from the shore to be sold for the aquarium trade.
