Smooth Sea Cucumber

The smooth sea cucumber is appropriately named for its very smooth and slippery body! With its elongated and cylindrical body, it almost looks like a brinjal on the beach!

Research has shown that some compounds produced by this unassuming sea cucumber may induce anti-aging effects in roundworms and fruit flies, with possible applications in humans. However, smooth sea cucumbers also contain toxic heavy metals, which must be properly removed before they can be consumed.
