Sea Apple Sea Cucumber

Most of the time, the sea apple sea cucumber is short and cylindrical like a sausage. However, if it gets scared or stressed, the sea cucumber can swell up and turn into a big, round ball, just like a red apple!

Sadly, sea apple sea cucumbers are now listed as “Vulnerable” in Singapore. The sea apple sea cucumber also does not do well in captivity and its incredibly vibrant warning colours hint at its toxic nature. If put in an aquarium, the toxins it produces will kill the other organisms in its tank!
