Plain Sand Star

The plain sand star has many vibrant orange spines along the edges of its arms, which look like the teeth of a comb. That’s why the members of the family Astropectinidae, which includes the plain sand star, are sometimes called comb sea stars! This elusive sea star hides during the day by burying itself in the sand and only emerges as the sun is setting.
