Orange-striped Hermit Crab

If you have ever flipped a shell over and see some legs with orange stripes retreating away from the shell opening, it might just be the orange-striped hermit crab! This cute crab lives up to its name with its striking orange claws and bright orange stripes on its legs.

As hermit crabs do not make their own shell, they depend on empty shells left behind on the intertidal zone for shelter and protection. So, please do not bring home shells from the beach as hermit crabs such as the orange-striped hermit crab need these shells to survive!

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please do not bring back animals from the wild! Read more about the dos and don'ts in the intertidal zone.
