Plain Rock Oyster

Plain rock oysters love company – they are often found side-by-side, growing on rocks in crowded groups!

Although they are so abundant, these creatures are often missed due to the presence of other encrusting animals, like barnacles, which enjoy taking shelter on them. Over time, as more algae and other organisms continue to grow on them, they will start to look more and more like the rocks they are anchored onto, helping them to camouflage well against the rocky shore!
