Fire Anemone

True to its name, the fire anemone packs a fiery sting that can cause immense pain! Please do not touch fire anemones!

The fire anemone can be identified by the bright white stripes radiating out from its mouth, which look like a spreading electric shock, hinting at its terrifying sting. This key feature sets it apart from other similar-looking but harmless animals such as the asparagus flowery soft coral, which lack these electric-white stripes. Knowing what creatures are and aren’t dangerous will help to keep you safe when you explore the intertidal zone!
